{"id":641,"date":"2025-03-24T09:56:24","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T09:56:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/midathollcc.org.uk\/?page_id=641"},"modified":"2025-03-24T09:56:25","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T09:56:25","slug":"electric-meter-changes","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/midathollcc.org.uk\/index.php\/electric-meter-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Electric Meter Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Electric Meter Changes Effecting Some of Us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dear friend of Warm Connections,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We wondered if we could enlist your help in passing this important message on to those who really need it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>RTS (Radio Teleswitch) meters will stop working on the 30th of June 2025.<\/strong>\u00a0This will effect 160,000 homes in Scotland including as much as a third of homes in Highland Perthshire. It is predominantly\u00a0<strong>houses who now have, or used to have, storage heaters<\/strong>. Without replacement the heaters will either no longer charge or will charge continuously (ie in high as well as low rate), or the charge timing might mean the heaters charge on high peak electricity.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The good news\u00a0<\/strong>is that there is a fix, and energy suppliers are busily upgrading meters (at there is no cost). They were in touch with every household before Christmas, but not everyone has responded.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new meters will require a new tariff, but with the new meter&nbsp;<strong>it will be easier to switch companies and shop around for appropriate and competitive tariffs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you are not sure<\/strong>&nbsp;whether you, a family member or a friend has a meter with an RTS you can check with your energy company, or check on your electricity bill\/statement; the top line of the MPAN (Meter Point Administration Number) is a unique identifier for your electricity supply, and will start with \u201802\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following link has support and simple advice &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.homeenergyscotland.org\/RTS-switch-off\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.homeenergyscotland.org\/RTS-switch-off<\/a>.
